Mountain bike tour Switzerland Itinerary

This trans-Graubünden mountain bike tour Switzerland will take you across the Swiss Alps, over high Alpine mountain passes and into lush valleys, sampling traditional Swiss and Italian mountain produce as you go. You’ll be riding at over 2,000m / 6,500ft much of the time, so be prepared to pace yourself as you acclimatise to the altitude. There is also a degree of exposure on the Swiss trails, significant on some days.

+Arrival in Lenzerheide - refresh + prepare for your adventure

If you’re travelling a long way or across several time zones to Switzerland then we would recommend arriving in Lenzerheide a day or two early to allow your body to adjust and to make sure any flight or luggage delays don’t spoil your trip

+Day 1 - Welcome to Switzerland! Ride Lenzerheide bike park

Your guide will meet you at the H+I preferred hotel in Lenzerheide in the morning, enjoy a coffee with everyone whilst chatting through the all-important pre-trip briefing. He will set the tone of the week ahead, explain the trails to come and answer any questions that you may have.

After your guide meeting you’ll build your bikes or set up rental bikes, before hitting the trails in and around the world-famous Lenzerheide bike park. Your guide will build you up progressively to warm up the legs and the mind, before returning back to your Lenzerheide hotel for your first evening meal as a team.

Distance cycled: 15km (app. 4 hours)
Accommodation: Small hotel Lenzerheide
Meals included: L, D

+Day 2 - Lenzerheide to Klosters - the real descending begins!

Today you will leave Lenzerheide behind and start your high-alpine adventure with a gondola ride high above the valley to Rothhorn and the first of many breathtaking vistas that you will encounter during this mountain bike tour Switzerland.

Once you have taken in the view you’ll start a long and famous descent that will take you to the valley floor and the town of Arosa, by which point you’ll be fully awake and appreciating why Switzerland holds such appeal for mountain bikers!

After a break, another gondola ride and perhaps a great local coffee to set you up for 7km and 500m vertical descent of pure flow on a newly-built singletrack flow trail to lunch.

After lunch we’ll embark on a long ride towards the main town of Graubünden – Chur. The door to this beautiful area. On singletrack, gondolas and uphill climb we hit the town.

There the first beer stop is awaiting us while we catch the train to Klosters and our next accommodation where you’ll be welcomed with great food and the typical local hospitality.

Make sure you get plenty of rest because tomorrow you’ll have even more descending to tackle!

Distance cycled: 45km (app. 7 hours)
Accommodation: Family run hotel, Klosters
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 3 - What goes up - must come down!

You’ll wake to the sound of cow bells this morning, then we’ll leave our mountain accommodation and work our way down to the gondola station where we board our first uplift of the day. We will utilise this seamless infrastructure today and throughout the week to ensure we reach the best trails and see as much of the region as possible.

The trails today will be predominantly flowing, but you can be sure that you will encounter slightly more technical features and sections that will demand thought and consideration, which will include a true highlight – the Chörbschhorn – which is punctuated by an alpine style lunch mid-descent.

After a tough morning of riding we can have a more relaxed afternoon, with a massage and a bit of shopping, or your guide can take you back out for more after lunch!

Distance cycled: 40km (app. 7 hours)
Accommodation: Large hotel Davos
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 4 - The Swiss Epic trail

Today we start our morning with an easy pedal towards the IMBA Epic Trail and Davos Glaris, and from there we will catch the gondola to whisk us up to Rinerhorn. Once at this high point, we spend the rest of the morning traversing on the Epic Trail all the way to Monstein, when we will be met by a beautiful lunch on the patio.

Suitably fed, watered and rested in this truly awe-inspiring location surrounded on all sides by jagged peaks, you will saddle up again and head further along the IMBA Epic Trail on a moderately technical descent that will see you arriving at Filisur.

We’ll then give our legs a rest and take the train to Bergün, a very picturesque, old mountain village where you’ll get to experience authentic Swiss mountain life!

Distance cycled: 43km (app. 8 hours)
Accommodation: Relaxing hotel in a very small, Alpine village
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 5 - Bernina Pass to Poschiavo

After another good breakfast, a shuttle will collect us and transfer us to the top of one of the most beautiful passes in the area – the Albula Pass. From there we start our riding with a nice, long single track mountain trail into Engadin. At the trail end our shuttle will be waiting for us to transfer us to the next highlight – the Bernina Pass. A long and steady climb will bring us closer to the Italian part of Graubünden, passing high alpine forests and enjoying views of glaciers and pristine lakes along the way.

We’ll stop at the top of the pass for lunch, which will give us our first signs of Italian-speaking Switzerland, then after a short rest for digestion, we’ll start another downhill section from the Bernina Pass to Poschiavo, in the Italian part of Switzerland. This is one of the oldest mountain bike trails in Switzerland, but it has been well looked-after over the years.

To finish the day we have a short spin to the beautiful lake of Poschiavo, to our small hotel in Le Prese, where they specialise in local and organic produce in their restaurant. There we will enjoy dinner with a variety of local tastes, and all products from the valley itself.

Distance cycled: 40km (app. 8 hours)
Accommodation: Small hotel, Le Prese
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 6 - Glaciers and ancient smugglers' paths

We have an early start today, but this is to meet our shuttle. For about 30 minutes we wind our way around many curves higher and higher back towards the Italian border. We’ll stop for a shot of espresso, then start our ride.

We have a challenging, but short, climb and then we see the view to the Bernina region again, with its majestic peaks. After enjoying this tremendous view we start a trail that very few people can claim to have ridden: 1700m downhill on old Romanian traffic and smuggler routes. It is a challenge, but the experience you’ve built up over the course of the week will prepare you for this long descent, and we’ll make plenty of stops to shake out the arms!

We’ll arrive back in Poschiavo, where we’ll enjoy perhaps the best lunch of the week with pizza and caffè before boarding the Bernina Express train to take us over the pass for our final flowing descent to Pontresina.

Distance cycled: 29km (app. 6 hours)
Accommodation: Sport hotel Pontresina
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 7 - Grand finale - flow trails in St. Moritz Valley

You’ve worked hard this week and for our last day the emphasis is very much on ‘fun’! We’ll aim to hit as many trails as possible from the hotel in Pontresina, using gondolas, trains and cable cars to link up a number of trails that cross the valley around St.Moritz.

We will set out to complete three trails in the morning before visiting a local café half way up the mountain side, where you can settle down to the best burger and coffee in the country…fact! After taking in the astonishing views down the valley you will hop on your last train transfer to a high point of 3053m and your final fling of this mountain biking tour Switzerland.

Starting from 3053m you’ll set off on rocky singletrack trails that will have you pumping and jumping your bike down trails that seem to be made by the gods!

It’s short but sweet! You’ll then have 20 mins of work left, where you will climb up to a mountain hut. This is your last chance to pick up water before we start descending for the next hour on trails that change in style all the way to the valley floor.

Your guide Dave lives at the bottom of this trail and he will be sure to show you some of his local gems. This descent will crown off what has been a singletrack extravaganza and, hopefully, one of the most memorable trips yet!

When you arrive back at your hotel in Pontresina you can take advantage of spa (and laundry) facilities before our final celebratory dinner together.

Distance cycled: 46km (app.6 hours)
Accommodation: Sport hotel Pontresina
Meals included: B, L, D

+Day 8 - Departure

Sadly today we leave Switzerland behind, say our farewells and transfer to Zurich airport. You will depart for the airport early morning on the train.

Meals included: Breakfast

  • You can brake, use gears and corner instinctively
  • You’ll have a go on moderate technical features, such as small rock gardens, small drops and steeper sections, but may get off and walk certain technical features

  • And the ‘+’ part of ‘Intermediate+’ means that you will be aiming to tackle more of those moderate technical features

Fitness level: 6/7

  • Double track: undulating forest roads made up of hard-packed dirt and small rocks
  • Singletrack: rustic singletrack, mainly high alpine trails and through forests with roots crossing the trails, and at times you will encounter golf ball-sized rock gardens, and occasionally purpose built flow trails
  • The trails in the Swiss mountains are hundreds of years old, so are not always buff purpose built trails, they are natural high alpine walking trails that link villages across the region and surfaces may be soft and muddy at times

Trip of a Lifetime

This was the second trip I've been on with H+I (the other was the Cairngorms trip), and the 4th paid tour I've done (Kokopelli Trail and Dolomites were the others). This was BY FAR the best biking vacation I've ever had. Everything about the riding was incredible - the trails, the terrain, the scenery... If you want to ride above the treeline for an entire week, this is your trip. In addition, the guides (Kurt and Remo) were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, the lodging was great, the logistics were seamless, and the food was AMAZING. Do not hesitate - life is short. DO IT!

Switzerland Trip

I’m a seasoned rider in the Rocky Mountains and had high expectations for a Switzerland biking trip. The trip exceeded my high expectations.

Riding was varied with both flowy and technical sections. Scenery was spectacular and lived up to all the hype. The guides were knowledgeable on trail conditions and capably handled the complex logistics of day to day operations. Rides were well organized with breaks, photo ops, and lunch stops.

Food was excellent and diverse including high alpine cabins, outdoor cafes, scenic overlooks, and gourmet evening meals.

Lodging was similarly diverse with historical and modern lodging both large and small. A nice touch was the provided laundry services.

In summary, a great experience of biking, scenery, culture, that has me thirsty for more.

Simply fantastic!

Between Eric, Tom, and I - I was not involved at all in the planning of this trip - as Eric B did all the legwork - and ultimately selected H+I.

The trip was very well organized and planned - kudos to Victoria and your entire team. The hotels and meals we enjoyed were all much better than I expected. Truly top notch! The riding was as described in the itinerary (6/7) - picturesque and challenging. Some of the "root carpets" we encountered were very sketch in the wet, but we all survived (LOL). Overall, the weather cooperated almost every day - which was very lucky for us! We did ride in all conditions: snow, fog, rain, drizzle, wind, and of course sun. The rental bikes provided were more than adequate and better than expected - Trek Fuel Carbon 29ers. The bikes were awesome!

The two guides (Kurt and Remo) were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. They made a good team - the Yin of Kurt (older, very experienced, and steady) with the Yang of Remo (younger, fearless, and full of energy). Also loved Remo's hipster beard and his descriptions of upcoming trail sections "same, same, but different." On most days, our group was split into 2 sub-groups for part of each ride, with Remo taking the more aggressive riding downhillers of the group and Kurt with the more cross-country riders of the group. I rode mostly with Kurt - as did Eric, Tom, and John. I really appreciated Kurt's presence during our rides - as he was always focused on ensuring everyone was having fun - and being safe at the same time. I did not spend as much time riding with Remo - but sat with him at dinner a few times - and really liked his energy and personality.

In sum, I was extremely impressed with the overall experience. H+I is simply world class. I will recommend H+I to anyone that asks. I'm also planning/hoping to ride with H+I again - thinking about Morocco!

Fun Times in the Swiss Alps

I had really high expectations for this trip and there wasn't one aspect that H+I didn't fully deliver on. The riding was perfect - challenging but not overwhelming. The variety of and accommodations themselves were amazing. The food was excellent and the variety of places we had meals was memorable. Guides, Kurt and Remo, were amazing - they carefully looked after us, but were so casual about it we didn't even notice it was happening. Safety was a top concern and they did a great job of explaining trail sections that might be dicey ahead of time, so we knew about challenges well in advance of encountering them. They also discussed what our next day had in store for us after dinner each night and were very clear about logistics - when breakfast would start, when we would be heading out of the day and what we should expect for the day's riding.

Victoria was also terrific to work with through the process of booking and addressing questions before going on the Switzerland biking trip - super attentive and responsive. It was my first overseas bike trip and it was a smashing success!!! We created memories and took pictures that will last forever. And the guys I went with are already scanning the H+I website for our next trip. Can't wait to do it all over again in a new and exciting destination!!

An Adventure of a Lifetime

This trip truly was an adventure of a lifetime; phenomenal all the way around! Switzerland was not something on my husband’s or my “bucket list”, but when our friends’ trip got canceled a year prior due to COVID, the stars aligned and we made the decision to do this trip with them. And man, we’re SO glad we did!! The scenery was incredibly breathtaking. The pictures we have don't do the experience of actually riding through the Swiss Alps any justice whatsoever. The riding was incredible, terrifying and wonderful all at the same time. The trail systems, as well as the overall transportation systems in Switzerland, are just amazing. We went in mid-July and had beautiful days every day of riding - warm and sunny.

Dom & Remo: We couldn't have asked for better guides. I really can't even imagine doing this trip without them! With the skills they taught us from the beginning of the trip, I could feel myself improving as we went along our journey. Even my husband felt he learned new skills, and he is an advanced rider. They spent time not only teaching us bike skills, but about the language, the food, and the history of the landscape. They took extra care of everyone in our group; making everyone as comfortable and happy as possible the whole way. The hardest part for me was some of the exposure. But I tried to focus on Dom’s riding tips from Day 1, which came in handy the entire trip. And Remo was always there coaching me in the back, and keeping me focused on the trail, which helped me ride some sections that I didn't think I could ride. Sometimes I had to walk, but that was ok too, because Dom and Remo were both so patient and kind with me, reminding me that “Switzerland is not a piece of candy.” The bike skills they taught were very useful, and they're reshaping my biking back home today as I continue to practice them. Dom & Remo started the trip as our guides, but quickly became our friends as we toured the Swiss mountain sides throughout the day and relaxed in the evenings.

In line with our friend's review on this trip, definitely prep yourselves for long days in the saddle, and lots of travel. Travel on gondolas, vans, and trains.. oh my! I suggest guests consider the various modes of travel and think about transporting their luggage daily and pack accordingly. That being said, I felt like there were plenty of breaks; breaks for pictures, coffee breaks, lunch stops, and transport from one mountain to the next. Lastly, a thank you to Victoria, who was crucial in getting us set-up for this trip, and who was so patient and friendly in answering the many questions that popped up in our group while preparing for this adventure.

What a trip!

Amazing trip from start to finish. The scenery, breathtaking. The trails, made up from a dream. The Swiss transportation system (aliens, have to be), The guides, Dom and Remo fun, knowledgeable, professional, did I say FUN … I can’t imagine experiencing this country without them, it would be much less of a trip.

Do not hesitate to do this trip. Be prepared for some long days in the saddle though. Make sure you are prepare. Victoria super helpful all along the way

MTB Switzerland

This trip was amazing. The location, the H+I team, the accommodations, everything was "Tip Top." Everyday, our group was treated to the most incredible rides the region had to offer. Kurt and Dom, our guides, not only mapped out amazing rides, but they took the time to coach my riding skills to make me a better MT-Biker at the end. The trip offer a full array of riding environments, from flow trails, high alpine riding, chunkie technical, too sweet down hill speed runs.

The mtb culture in Switzerland is amazing and H+I is the team to ensure you get top notch trip. It's hard to fully appreciate all the planning and coordination that H+I does in the back ground, as a rider the only thing I had to do was wake up everyday and be ready for an awesome ride. The lodging, food, and attention to trip planning that H+I provided was great. I highly recommend the Switzerland. I can't wait to go back, I look forward to signing up for another H+I trip.

Epic!

This was my second trip with H+I Adventures. Back in 2018 I did the "Coast to Coast" Scotland trip. It did not disappoint, with amazing scenery, great food, spectacular riding and guides. Switzerland took it up a notch! Each day we were greeted with more spectacular views, the likes of which are only seen in fantasy movies.

This truly was a once in a lifetime trip. The description of the physical requirements for this trip is spot on. Don't skimp on your training, the climbing is defiantly challenging, but the reward is spectacular vistas and some SERIOUS DOWNHILL. When our guide Dave said that there would be some exposure on a particular trail, he wasn’t kidding. During the course of the week, we hit just about every variety of trail there is. From flowy down hills (my favorite), to heavily forested trails full of roots, even Roman built roads (Rock gardens) and everything in between. All of these trails were carefully explained by our guide many times during our ride for the day. Everything was ridable if you wanted.

None of this could have been possible without the skill, professionalism, and local knowledge, of our guide Dave Spielmann. Dave is consummate professional who takes pride in his job. He truly cared about each client’s every need. He personally instructed me and others during the course of the week. I’m certain that my skill level has risen considerably because this. I had Dave order all of my meals for the entire trip (No thinking at all), and all of the food was excellent.

Thank you H+I Adventures and Dave Spielmann for putting together an Epic trip of a lifetime!

Unforgettable

The Switzerland trip was breathtaking in a lot of ways (not just an altitude pun!). We were riding on what felt like hallowed ground for the sport (the World Cup was held a couple of weeks later at Lenzerheide). The setting was off-the-charts beautiful – mountain peaks, glaciers, forests, beautiful villages, the impressive Swiss rail and gondola systems. Dave Spielmann, our guide, was a consummate pro with a big heart - his love of riding, and of guiding newcomers through his beautiful country, shown through every day.

Personally I learned alot about form and style from Dave, which has made me a much better rider. We had been his first tour coming out of 2020-21 quarantine, and he handled it with a depth of understanding that went far beyond simply guiding a mountain bike trip.

The riding itself has everything- ripping downhill, forested singletrack, exposure (a new term for this NYC-area rider!), technical riding and flowy stuff for miles and miles. Thanks Dave and thanks H+I Adventures!

An Excellent Adventure

I have done the H+I trip through Scotland. The Switzerland experience was amazing in every way. The bike rental was great. The food and inns were amazing. Dave and Dom have an excellent knowledge of every curve and divot of every trail in the areas we road. They gave excellent instruction and guidance from the first to the last moment. The trails in Switzerland are unbelievable. I try too repeat very few trips in my life, so that can make room for new adventures; however, this will be a MUST to revisit!

Great fun

Of the 4 H+I trips I’ve done so far, Switzerland had (by far) the most downhill action of the lot. You get a bit of everything on the trails - rocky and exposed… fast and flowing… technical… steep and scary. I enjoyed all of them. The accommodation and meals were out of the top drawer.

Dom and Dave worked so hard to make sure everyone had a great time, they both had so much energy and enthusiasm, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. This was also the trip where I felt like I improved the most as a rider, due to the coaching and advice from Dave and Dom.

Essentially- what Colin wrote below is all true. For myself- this was THE most wonderful vacation of my life. The country was beautiful- the riding challenging and fun. I came home a better rider. The food was always delicious- we never waited for our rooms at night- everything was completely organized and no hassle. Our guides Dave and Dom kept us all safe and all moving. I loved it. Thank you thank you- I will do another H+I trip for sure!!!

Great riding, scenery, food and accommodation

Fantastic trip. Perfect organisation from start to finish. Guides Dave and Dominic were fabulous - entertaining and competent. They are true locals and know the trails perfectly, giving plenty of instructions about each section. They also fixed any bike problems. Each day they tailored the rides according to individuals ability and weather conditions. Great use of gondolas, trains and shuttles to maximise downhill enjoyment but still enough climbing to feel you have had a good workout. Guides happy to give coaching advice along the way.

The areas traversed were incredibly scenic. Guides tried to select restaurants with typical Swiss meals - the food was fantastic. Probably enjoyed challenging myself on the sections of old Roman roads the most.

All the accommodation was excellent. Great group of like-minded people. The intermediate + rating and H+I description of this very apt.

Absolutely amazing trip

Dave made a promise that the riding, the views, and the trip as a whole would only get better as the week progressed, which seemed a tall order given the route we took from Lenzerheide to Arosa. Nonetheless, he delivered. While each trail was memorable, the descent into Sertig, the Bernina pass, and the ride from the Italian border into Poschiavo are among my favorite mountain bike rides.

There was a little bit of everything on this trip-flow trails, roots, and rocks until your heart’s content-and it was strung together to keep you challenged but never overworked and never bored. Dave was a fantastic guide. He did an exceptional job keeping on top of every detail and making the needed adjustments throughout the trip to accommodate all the riders, and was simply fun to be around for the whole trip.

The H+I Switzerland trip sets a very high bar, and I would very much recommend it!

Amazing trip

I had an incredible time in Graubünden! All the variables came together; trails, weather, views, guide, accommodations, food, easy transport, group, etc. This was my fourth H+I trip and I was not disappointed!

The trails are a great mix of fast and flowy and technical. Dave did a great job of making sure that everyone in the group had the experience they wanted and was able to be flexible and offer options whenever possible. He took all the thinking out of it for us, ensured our bikes were working great, and generally just made sure that we had a great time.

As always with H+I the lodging and food is well chosen to reflect the best of the area and show off the local cuisine.

Switzerland is a one-of-a-kind area with the infrastructure (gondolas, chair lifts, funiculars, trains!) to enable you to cover an incredible amount of ground each day. The trails are world class and I think I had one of my favorite descents ever down to Sertig on the IMBA epic trail.

Take this trip!

Switzerland

If you are looking for the perfect mountain biking trip look no further....you just found it!

This was my first tour with H+I and even before getting on ground I was immediately impressed with every detail from the companies web marketing, correspondence with head office, the booking process and attention to my individual pre tour enquirers regarding transfers and kit.

Once I arrived and met our guides Dave and Huggy Bear, I was sure that this was the tour for me. They are terrific guys and so determined to ensure that everyone on the tour has the best holiday experience possible. No problem is to big or small they were able solve any of the groups issues from kit failures to rider improvement techniques to gradually build confidence. I booked the twin share with a mate but on arrival I noted that European twin share is essentially a double bed. The guys were able to juggle a few things to get us our own rooms but unless you are happy to sleep in the same bed as your travel partner the single room extra is well worth the additional cost.

The infrastructure in Switzerland is what sets it apart. The readily available and well utilised mixed use of gondolas, trains, chair lifts and shuttles provides approximately 16km of vertical descending for about 3.5km of physical investment of vertical ascending. Every day you would finish riding and ask yourself how can they top this tomorrow and you would wake up and they would do just that. Day 1 was epic, but the boys delivered increasingly better views, better trails and better local cuisine as each day passed.

The tour is perfectly rated at intermediate+ and there are at times technical features that require your full attention. The guides thoroughly brief the group on all upcoming sections and their knowledge of the individual trails and features is amazing.

All in all one of the best adventure holidays that I have ever had and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Looking forward to my next H+I adventure!

Do yourself a favour!!

incredible, amazing, astonishing

Dear Dave and Dom AKA The Hulk and Huggy Bear. This was the most amazing experience I have had in my 45years of life, and although the Switzerland nature was like no other and no photos do it justice, it was your personalities and care for the riders that I have given this trip 5 stars. So thank you to the both of you and the entire H+I team. Can't wait for my next tour.....no doubt there will be many spin classes in between! 🙂 Regards Justin.

Unbelievable

This was my first H+I trip. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was nothing short of spectacular. The scenery, the food, the trails, the guides, the people, the towns, all of it was incredible. The views cannot be described, and pictures do not do any justice to the grandeur. The food was local and delicious. The trails were so much fun, like I've never been on before. The trip is listed as intermediate+, and it is true to form. I was not quite at that skill level, but the guides were patient and extremely helpful. They made a trip that is incredible on its on merit, even better. Dave and Dominik are knowledgable, thoughtful, professional, dedicated, skilled, and love what they do. It is a credit to H+I to have Dave and Dominik as guides; they are what guides should aspire to be. I am a better mt biker because of them.

I don't have one complaint about this trip, but I do have advice. Make sure you know your skill level. The trails rate from park to rooted, rocky, and exposed. Not too steep but technical for sure. The weather was all over the place, from windy and rainy to sunny and warm. So daily, we packed for any condition. I highly recommend this trip, but I also recommend being prepared.

MTB Freedom Swiss Style

My first H+I trip and definitely not last! Excellent guides, itinerary and trail experience. Seeing Switzerland via MTB allowed great freedom into vast beautiful places with so much rich history. Top notch trail quality and quantity with a wide variety trial styles and climate/geology zones every day was a truly blissful experience. I'll be back!

Ultimate Swiss Enduro

This was a fantastic trip. The terrain selection was second to none. Our local guides had intimate knowledge of the local trails and conditions. They never missed a beat, and easily adapted the itinerary because of remaining winter snow fields. Every detail was take care of: meals, bike washing and maintenance, laundry, etc.

My second trip with H+I and it won't be my last!

I must be dreaming

I've wanted to go to Switzerland for a very, very long time. The fact that I was finally able to do it, and ride my bike at the same time made this a seemingly perfect experience. This was my 5th H+I trip, but asking which was my favorite would be like asking someone to choose their favorite child. Each trip has its own personality. It's own experiences. It's own flavor. Switzerland is no different. What I can promise you though, is that H+I find THE BEST local guides. They have every detail nailed, and they are masters of their art, both on and off the bike.

Several times during the trip we would descend down through a high alpine meadows, and I couldn't help but stop and absorb the scenery, only to start again, and laugh at the awesomeness of the "perma-grin" inducing trails. The trails we were on have easily made their way in to my "top 5" trails list. Can't wait for the next trip.

Esperamos volver a viajar con H+I

Gracias por todo

Best Holidays I've had

Switzerland was my first tour which H+I, but I am quite sure it won't be the last one. I went with my family (two brothers and two parents), and I think it was the best vacation we have ever had. Everything was perfect: great hotels, delicious and carefully chosen restaurants, stunning scenery, and absolutely awesome riding.

However, the guides were what really took this trip to the next level. Dominik and Dave are very professional, but they do not stop at showing you the trails, doing the logistics, and ensuring everyone's safety. They go above and beyond, making sure everyone has fun while being safe (not a simple tasks when riders have different skill levels), and bringing with them the best attitude and energy.

Could not recommend this trip highly enough!

Addicted to H+I Tours

Switzerland was my 4th tour with H+I and I have to say yet another EPIC tour with this fine Scottish outfit. This tour was absolutely EXPONENTIALLY FABULOUS! I must start with the truly amazing guides...Dave was so professional, warm, welcoming, funny...then slather on another great guide in Dom and well, you have the fantastic Duo :).

I always hope to continue to hone my mountain biking skills on these trips and I really appreciate the expertise offered by these two rock stars. I must say to those interested that I believe this trip to be Intermediate+/Advanced with some deliciously technical downhills, exposed trails, rooty, rocky and flowing fun and not to forget some good sustained climbs...don’t skimp on the uphill training!

Killer single track start to finish and the views just keep on coming! I consider myself an advanced rider and I absolutely loved every aspect of this trip and found it very hard to let go after just one week. The guides were so fun the entire time...many laughs all around. Dave and Dom took great care of the group and the equipment. The accommodations were first rate as usual and the food...fantastic.

I made another set of new friends and cannot wait to experience yet another tour with H+I...they have ruined me for life! Book this tour and train hard...it will make your experience that much sweeter!

Spectacular Switzerland !

Another ridiculously scenic and seamlessly epic mountain bike tour by H+I.
I've been extremely fortunate to have experienced several H+I tours now and by their own incredibly high standards my expectations now start at the 'sky high' level.

Switzerland did not just meet my expectations...… it smashed them. Dave and Dom are outstanding guides, expert riders, great blokes and awesome ambassadors for their country. The riding included a little bit of everything and a lot of what puts a big smile on the dial of any mountain biker.

Great memories, strengthened and new friendships and single track heaven...… already planning the next H+I trip!

Awesome trip with amazing beauty

I would not hesitate one bit to recommend this tour to any serious mountain biker looking for adventure on a diverse set of trails and spectacular beauty. The guides Dave and Dominik go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, provide personalized guidance and most importantly have fun! They are expert riders and know practically every inch of the miles of trails on this route.

Move over Andalucia?!

Been lucky to have the chance to go on a couple of H+I trips. Spain/Andalucia is a fave with long days on the bike on trails right in my wheelhouse (lots of awesome point-A to B old-school singletrack). Grabunden may do that one better, having a similar awesome-trail/minimal-van ratio with the addition of gondolas (aka much more down then up) and a wee-bit of bike park flavor tossed in.

As always, H+I have ferreted out amazing local ambassadors. Our departure being a full-house, we had two and hard to think of better guides to Swiss-goodness than Dave & Dom. Travel to the Alps on this one confident of being in good hands who know where the local-goods are (trails, pubs, whatever) as life-long residents + riders.

Definitely a five-star singletrack getaway.

One pointer - mount up a mudguard! Riding in Grabunden means riding the open range along with the local livestock. Mooooooo!

Just an amazing Trip

I've done a few MTB trips and this one was the certainly the best organized where we go from gondola/trams to rides, thru forests, valleys and backs of mtns, only to end up in little fairy tale like villages with great food... Simply something that couldn't be organized without the local knowledge, even outside the riding. Dave and Dom did a great job and I look forward to my next H+I trip. Thanks for doing it right.

 by Mark Slade
Totally amazing - if you're up to it

OK before I start on the review you need to understand that this is not an easy holiday. You will have fairly long climbs (1-2 hours). You will descend some 25,000M of height - over technical singletrack which will have you crapping yourself fairly frequently. If you come on this you need to be fit, prepared to go for it on the downhills, and prepared to listen to the instructors as they will improve your skills enormously. Each day started fairly early (8:15-8:30) and we generally got to our hotel around 5pm. There were a fair few stops along the way but you will be tired at the end of each day.

OK with that out of the way, what was it like.

Absolutely brilliant.

The two instructors, Dave and Dom were very professional but really really nice guys who went out of their way to make sure everyone was looked after at all times. As an example my wife unfortunately broke her ankle on the second day (just put her foot down badly on a rock). They assessed the injury well and called in the helicopter for her to be taken to hospital. After that though they constantly looked after her - arranging for her to stay at our hotels whenever possible and also to meet us for lunch. Dave worked out suggestions of things that she could do while the rest of us were on the trails. It really made a big difference to what was a very frustrating time for her.

As for me my skill levels advanced enormously during the week and I also really felt looked after - having the two guides there meant that whenever people had punctures the rest of the party could moved on with little disruption while one guide did the repairs. When one guys dropper post failed they were able to give him directions into the town and set up someone to carry out the repair. He only missed one part of the ride.

The scenery was absolutely stunning. The singletrack was amazing - miles and miles of it. At the start of the week I was basically using testosterone to take me over any technical stuff. They worked on my skills and by the end I was able to go over far more challenging stuff at whatever speed I chose- I was in control of the bike.

After a bad day when I fell off 5 times (3 times over the handlebars) they worked with me the next day to bring my confidence back gradually - moving me to the back of the group and giving me tips on what I was doing wrong.

They seemed to have an eye on everyone at all times and were alive to people's mood changes - again responding quickly and making sure everyone was happy.

The meals were gorgeous - all locally sourced. The hotels were all comfortable and ranged from quite luxurious to more rustic, depending on where we were.

Before each section they would explain what was about to happen - how steep, what sort of obstacles, what sort of exposure and so on. You really felt they knew every inch of all the trails, and were able to change the routes at will according to changing circumstances - when my wife was in hospital they managed to build in a visit from all of us on the way to the next Gondola.

There was a great atmosphere amongst the group and this wouldn't have been possible without such fantastic guides.

The only suggestion for improvement I could think of would be have the ability to tag on a couple of days of skills training onto the start of the holiday. My wife and myself would both have taken that option if it had been available and it would have helped us to get even more out of the holiday.

I think I've run out of things to say. It was Challenging, Brilliant, awesome and fun all rolled into one and set in the most beautiful scenery you could imagine.

I will be re-booking for next year as it's one of the best holidays I've ever had.

Thanks Dave and Thanks Dom

Stupendous Switzerland

Wow - what a stunning holiday and exceptional week of riding. Breathtaking scenery every turn and loved that we were able to cover so much ground right from our front door each day....

Our guides Dave and Dom were amazing hosts, balancing the different needs and skill levels of the group so that we all enjoyed the right level of challenge and their extensive knowledge of the region gave us various options to choose from each day depending on how we were feeling. This approach felt very tailored and really helped ensure everyone got their fill each day.

Loved the variety of terrain, from high Alpine wilderness to woodlands and wildflower plains... always with the chance to sample top quality local lunch spots and enjoy some local culture too! Been back a week and still on a high.

Some precious memories to look back on. Another 5 star trip from H+I and Dave and Dom.... thanks all! Until next time xx Nikki and Carl x

Absolument fantastique

I had very high expectations for this trip : mythical Swiss Alps scenery, day long single track adventures, remote mountain lodge, Typical and european food and wine, inspiring people to ride with, to name a few. And this mountain bike journey crafted by H+I and Dave Spielmann, our guide, exceeded them all ! A once in a lifetime adventure that any mountain biker must do !

Few magical moments among many others :

- Taking a swim in a glacier lake on Casanna pass

- Having a cappuccino at the Belvedere Albergo ristorante above Poschiavo valley

- Laughing all together during dinner after a long but rewarding day

Extraordinary! Really!

I just completed the MTB tour Switzerland. What an amazing experience it was. Everything was up to my expectations. It is a challenging tour but we knew about it and therefore trained for it so at the end there was no big surprises. Dave, our guide, is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.! A real genuine person with all the qualities of a true leader. He was instrumental in finding a quick solution for a broken bike...it was resolved within an hour. My husband got a new bike for the rest of the trip. Wow! Who can act that fast with so much compassion? Bravo Dave! Also, he coached us throughout the week so we can improve our skills tremendously. You should see what I can do now...this is so exciting!

The trails, the views, the people, the food, the accommodation; everything was perfect . Really ...perfect!  The days are long but very rewarding. We had a lot of fun debriefing at the end of day.

Thanks to our team members that made the trip even better! You guys were the best!

I loved the experience, I loved the trip and I would love to go back! 🙂 That says it all.

Dominique

An amazing both challenging experience

This kind of experience reliant upon 4 main issues:

1. The quality of the trails

2. accommodations food.

3. The guide.

4. The group.

As for the trails - really amazing!!

maintained, includes breathtaking sceneries, lots of downhills that sometimes demands good technical skills, and challenging uphills as well (but the scenery in the end of each one - Wow!!).

accommodation and food - much more than I have expected. the rooms were really nice and comfy and the food always great 🙂

(won't say more, don't want to do a spoiler)

The guide - as for my opinion, it can't get better than Dave.

Dave is a kind person that has two goals throughout the adventure: to give you the best experience one can have and bring you back home safe and well. And I must say, He stands behind it!

Dave will make you a better riders and a better persons. He will always prepare you the next part of the trail and how to go through like a pro, take care of problematic situation (Any situation), excellent bike service skills, excellent guide that will help you to ride better - so listen to him even if you think you know what to do - cause he knows better 🙂

He is funny and will always help you when you need (even if you don't ask for it). He is great guy and you will have a great time with him.

The group is a subjective issue, I can only tell what happened to me. In our group, we were 4 people from 3 different continents (not including Dave) and I met extraordinary people. We had a really good chemistry between us all (including Dave) and that has made this adventure even more special.

If I try to conclude, this trip if for people who are looking to combine an effort with fun, to see great sceneries, taste a bit more than intermediate + normal level, to enjoy great local food and to have an amazing guide.

So if you think about doing this trip - don't think, you must do it!!!

Birthday surprise

After a fabulous Cairngorms trip with H+I in 2017, I eagerly signed up for their Switzerland tour. And as I have come to anticipate with an H+I trip their Switzerland trip was fantastic! I enjoyed the point to point aspect of this tour, providing an astonishing array of scenery, trails, food and lodging. This was a great way to really experience Switzerland (and pizza in Italy).

Our guides, Dave and Dominik shared their love and enthusiasm for their country and their trails. The days of riding were long, but filled with abundant single track trails with lots of flow. And lots and lots of food! The second day of the tour was my birthday and Dave arranged for a special gift of fireworks at our private mountain lodge. Hard to beat a private fireworks show on your birthday!

I'm looking forward to my next trip with H+I.

We booked this trip last minute and I had done no reaserch into what we where going to encounter. The point to point trip was amazing. The guides Dave and Dom bounced off each other and their care and attention to all people in the group, helped build a real tight nit caring team. The tracks, scenery, food and accomodation where next to faultless and this is commimg from a person with high expectations!!
Thanks Guys

A five star adventure from start to finish

A five star adventure from start to finish. We were treated to some of the most amazing trails Switzerland has to offer. Our guide David notched the trip up even further with his enthusiasm and joy in sharing his beautiful country.

The food, logistics and hospitality were first rate!

Fantastic vacation! H+I put together an amazing seven days of riding from high alpine rocky descents to long wooded single track. Our guide Dave was incredibly knowledgeable of the trails, area, and seemed to know people at each of our stops. Every day was packed with a variety of terrain and perfect lunch locations.

My bike handling improved throughout the week as a result of Dave’s coaching and he was truly attentive to everyone’s riding ability.

Great itinerary, hotels, food, and guiding.

Highly recommended

Thank you H+I Adventures for an epic and amazing trip! The team out did itself with this package- trails, guide (Dave), lodging, views and food spoiled the group while creating lifetime memories and connections to the trip's participants!

From the start, the H&I team were professional and responsive with questions and matters around the organization of the trip!

As you begin the trip, the first thing I noticed is the professionalism of the guide, Dave!

The trails were world class! It ranged from alpine (uphill/downhill/traversing), double track and flow trails! The flow trails were a treat to help master any skills you feel can improve! Everyday you'll experience panaromic views of the Swiss Alps! Pictures cannot give this experience enough justice!

I highly recommend this trip if you want to experience amazing alpine trails, great food and build lasting relationships and memories!

What a week!

What a week!

With fast flowing trails to technical downhills, all with the Swiss mountains as a magnificent backdrop. Our guide Dave couldn't have been better. He organised everything so the whole week ran perfectly.

He was also happy to advise on technique so that we got the absolute best out of the trails.

Phenomenal.
