Mountain Bike Tour Slovenia Itinerary
The flow of your mountain bike tour Slovenia has been designed to become progressively more technical throughout the course of the week. Your guides will coach you through each new challenge so that you make the most of your Slovenian experience and go home a more technically skilled and confident mountain biker.
- +Arrival in Ljubljana - refresh + prepare for your adventure
If you’re travelling a long way or across several time zones to Europe and Slovenia then we recommend arriving a day or two early to allow your body to adjust and to make sure any flight or luggage delays don’t spoil your trip.
- +Day 1 - Group meet + Ljubljana locals' ride
Your local guides will meet you at B&B Slamič in Ljubljana at 10am, where you can grab your morning coffee and he’ll run through the all-important pre-trip briefing.Your guides will then help you build your bikes and set up rental bikes, ready for your first warm-up ride in Slovenia. Ljubljana is surrounded by a huge network of fabulous local trails, and you’ll only have to pedal for 15 minutes from the city centre to reach the start of your ride.
We’ll break you into your trip gently with some lovely wooded double track and singletrack, with a few rooty sections to wake you up after your travels!
After a couple of hours of really enjoyable trails, we’ll drop back into Ljubljana and have a cold beer on the banks of the Ljubljana River, before making the hour-long drive to our hotel in Bohinj, not far from the beautiful lake, where we’ll spend the next two nights.
We’ll enjoy dinner in a local restaurant which specialises in traditional Slovenian dishes made from seasonal, organic produce including: venison, asparagus, trout, porcini mushrooms, wild berries and buckwheat dumplings.
Distance cycled: 20km
Accommodation: Small hotel Bohinj
- +Day 2 - Sorica Pass (Slovenia)
On your first full day on your mountain bike tour Slovenia we’ll embark on a truly breathtaking mountain bike ride on Vrh Bace mountain. You will start the day directly from your hotel, with a 700m warm up ascent! This trail consists of World War I mule tracks that have a fantastic gradient for mountain biking, with a relatively easy ascent (for the Alps!).
After taking in the view and having lunch you will descend on a mixture of mule and gravel tracks, and pristine Slovenian singletrack to the opposite side of Vrh Bace. After a refreshing beer at a local cafe, we’ll load our bikes onto the train to travel back through the mountain we’ve just ridden over to our little village, where we’ll saddle up again to ride back to our accommodation.
Dinner this evening will be in a fantastic typical mountain village restaurant, where we’ll enjoy delicious local meats from the grill, accompanied by vegetables and some of the local schnapps (which is something of an acquired taste!).
Distance cycled: 35km
Accommodation: Small hotel Bohinj
Meals included: Breakfast
- +Day 3 - Kranjska gora and the Vršič pass (Slovenia)
Today we first drive towards the western edge of Slovenia, and will start riding up the Vršič Pass. The road to the Vršič Pass is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the whole of Europe. You will be surrounded by Dolomite-style peaks reaching high above you to a height of around 2,500m, and we’ll be watched over by the rock face of a Pagan lady that is emblazoned on the sheer rock of Prisank mountain.
Slowly, with lots of ‘photo stops’, we climb to the pass at 1,611m which rewards us with some of the best mountain views on the trip. You will have lunch on the pass in a typical alpine mountain hut, before three incredible descents back down valley to Kranjska Gora.
Distance cycled: 40km
Accommodation: B&B Kranjska Gora
Meals included: Breakfast
- +Day 4 - Kranjska gora to Tromeja: 3 countries in 1 day (Slovenia Austria + Italy)
Today you will start in Kranjska gora, at the Slovenian world cup ski centre. We pedal to the Austrian border where you will start the real climb towards Tromeja, which literary means ‘three borders’ or trig point between Slovenia, Italy and Austria. You can actually stand with one foot in Austria, one in Italy and your bike in Slovenia! This will take around two hours, but don’t worry, there is a fabulous mountain hut on the Austrian side of the three borders trig point where you can have a well-earned coffee!
From there you will ride along the Karavanke mountain ridge, on the border between Slovenia and Italy, to get the best views over the Julian Alps. This unforgettable day will culminate with a grin-inducing descent into Italy, where we’ll reward ourselves with pizzas all round.
Your friends won’t fail to be impressed when you tell them you had breakfast in Slovenia, coffee in Austria and pizza in Italy!
We’ll finish our ride at our comfortable accommodation in Bovec, where we’ll spend the next two nights.
Distance cycled: 30km
Accommodation: Small hotel Bovec
Meals included: Breakfast
- +Day 5 - Bovec to Kobariski Stol (Slovenia)
You will start this incredible ride from just within the Italian border, with a climb up an old Italian road leading us to the high alpine pastures where we will have amazing views over the whole of the Julian Alps, the Soca river below us and the mountain ridge of Kanin, and even as far as the Dolomites on a clear day!For lunch we will join some local shepherds at planina Bosca for some fresh local cheese specialities that they will be delighted to share with you.
After lunch you buckle up and embark on another 15km descent that will have you laughing, whooping and grinning all the way to the valley floor and beyond – a day to remember for the rest of your life! But the day is not over – we will have another refreshment on the banks of the emerald Soca river before we transfer back to our accommodation and dinner in Bovec.
We’ll round off our day at the Thirsty River pub, where you’ll enjoy some great local beers and Slovenian atmosphere.
Distance cycled: 40km
Accommodation: Small hotel Bovec
Meals included: Breakfast
- +Day 6 - Kobarid to Collio (Slovenia + Italy)
After a hearty breakfast we will continue to the small village of Livek, where we will start biking up to the summit and mountain hut of Monte Maggiore.Monte Maggiore is located on the border with Italy and was one of the places where the harshest fights during the WWI Isonzo front took place. From the top you will ride a breathtaking 12km downhill on the Italian side of the mountain.
You will get to see the change between the rough Alpine environment and the lush green hills of the south and wine growing region. Your hotel this evening sits high above the vineyards, and you’ll even get to soak your muscles in the stunning infinity pool with views across the valley.
You’ll walk to your restaurant in the village which makes its own organic wine from local grapes to accompany the delicious menu of meat, cheeses, vegetables and scrumptious desserts.
Distance cycled: 20km
Accommodation: Small hotel Collio
Meals included: Breakfast
- +Day 7 - Collio/Goriska Brda to Piran (Italy + Slovenia)
We’ll start today with a breakfast of local ham, cheese and home made yogurt, then leave the wine growing region behind and head for the coast. First we’ll have a short transfer to the foot of the coastal mountain of Slavnik. We’ll climb to the summit hut at 1,028m where you can catch the first glimpses of the sea and look back over the wine growing region and on to the mountains where you have been riding all week. After lunch at the summit you will embark on the final descent of the week.
This descent starts as a flow-trail feast, then the trail turns away from the ridge onto the coastal facing slope, and becomes a little more rocky, but still has great flow. At the foot of the mountain we’ll weave through the village to finish our ride at a local craft brewery for lunch and tasting, before our transfer to Piran and the completion of your week’s mountain biking adventure.
We’ll check into a stunning hotel with views over the ocean, 10 minutes walk along the coast from the old town where you will have dinner watching the sun setting over the Adriatic sea. Life is good!

Mountain Bike Tour Slovenia reviews

First time H+I trip for my wife and I. The communication with H+I, the guides, the group, the riding, the food, the accommodation and scenery and were all absolutely fantastic! We're already looking forward to the next H+I adventure and a return visit to Slovenia!
My 2nd time with H+I and it was a fantastic, I had a great time.
All our guides were great. I was particularly impressed when they managed to get me a new electronic shifter for my bike ready for the next days ride, after I broke the last one. Not easy things to get hold of. Very cool!
All the accommodation was top-notch, the food was great and the riding spectacular. I think it might take me a little while to get over some of my new aches and pains though!
Thanks to Blaz and the rest of the team in Slovenia for making our trip such a success! We did a private family holiday with our daughters, ages 14 and 11. I admit that I was nervous that we may have been in over our heads, but instead the whole holiday was a great success. Slovenia is beautiful and diverse, and we loved the riding as well as visiting the towns and nearby lakes and rivers. This country is a hidden gem in the heart of Europe and does not disappoint.
Simply spectacular! The landscapes of Slovenia are like a dream, and we learned a lot about this beautiful country thanks to our guides Matej and Andrej. H+I Adventures definitely offers the best.
"What can I say ... the June 2022 visit to Slovenia met and exceeded all expectations!"
Victoria representing H+I office was incredible from Day 1 in booking the tour and adapting to the COVID delays (2 years) and communicating with us regularly to ensure this tour June 2022 MTB Slovenia happened for myself and 2 fellow Canadian riders.
Great attention to detail and really cared about our experience.
Thank you Victory .. I mean Victoria!
The TOUR itself...
Local Guides Blaz and Matez - you guys are top Notch ... what a great team !
As Blaz says " At any point if you think I am NOT right, please just do what I say and soon you will realize I WAS right". I AM A VET YOU KNOW".
Matez "Stew don't worry I will fix that squeek on your bike at next stop" Stew reply "what squeek?" Matez heard it from 2 valleys over the day prior and diagnosed in his sleep ... Best Bike Mechanic Ever!
Everything was exceptional from the MTB instruction by both guides to conscientiously improve everyone as riders, to the seamless tweaks/ repairs to the bikes everyday... rental bikes were fantastic.
The history / culture and fables/ legends shared by the guides along the way were real gems and one of the things I will remember most ... worth every penny ... they are proud of their BACK YARD and have endless nuggets to share about their beautiful Slovenia.
The itinerary accurately described the days ahead and the sights /views /experiences did not disappoint. We were fortunate with +25C weather so no changes to itinerary ... one wet day had us huddled under a Hut eavestrough which added to the experience... great photos on that day.
Particularly Loved the villages and small hotels selected ... especially Bohinj (beautiful lakeside) / and Kranjska Gora (old Slovenian Home in little village) / Bovec (great little town with Thirsty Pub).
The MTB Riding:
- When they put a + next to Intermediate ... they mean it (lol)!
Very challenging riding ... especially the Downhill for me ... knee pads for sure as plenty of rocks and roots ... mostly rideable but took some getting used to as an Intermediate rider ( I don't bounce well anymore). Thanks to Blaz and Matej for checking in constantly to ensure everybody knew what was ahead.
Our group consisted of Canadians / Americans / Germany / Slovenian Guides ... wonderful people one and all. Likeminded MTB enthusiasts ready for the challenge and Laugh / Beer along the way.
Final thoughts for anyone considering this tour:
1) YES YES YES ... Definitely book
2) Train hard for 2 hour uphills (half hour between breaks) so you have energy for downhills (knee pads - yes).
3) Consider renting bikes through H+I ... PIVOT is top gear and Matej knows those bikes like the back of his hand and a mechanical issue is inevitable at some point over the week.
4) Don't plan to lose weight ... 2 hour Uphills definitely burn Kilowatts but you MUST enjoy the Cheese / Gilato / Beer at the end of each day ... believe me ... you will EARN and DESERVE IT!
5) Book an extra day in Ljubljana ... one of the nicest Cities you will ever visit!

Here's all you need to know: 1-hr, 700m, smiles on!
This was my 2nd tour with H+I and once again, the experience was above and beyond anything I ever imagined. Slovenija is absolutely STUNNING--truly a hidden gem of the world. On this trip, we experienced so many different microclimates, terrain and culinary experiences--all within 1-hr driving distance. The people, the culture and the history is incredible!
The riding was a perfect combination of challenge, rewarding views and R&R. Most days began with a 700m ascent followed by incredible, long descents. The climbs are definitely demanding, but SO worth it! So pace yourself and make sure to incorporate plenty of uphill in your training. The descents were extremely fun, offering long flowy sections and multiple technical challenges--single track, rocks, roots, leaves, steps, ditches, you name it! The slope pitch of the ascents eased up and the descents got longer and more challenging as the week went on.
Of course, none of this would be possible without Victoria, our great riding team and AMAZING guides. Both during and leading up to the trip, Victoria was responsive and communicative helping us be best prepared for the trip. We also had the BEST riding team. We shared many stories, laughs, drinks and post-ride swims. Get to know your teammates! They will be your biggest support on big climb days! Blaz and Matej are extremely knowledgeable and genuinely cared about our experience and reminded us to HAVE FUN (smiles on!). I learned SO much from them--both of the area (history, culture, language) and ways to continue improving my riding skills. They made it look easy, but I can only imagine how much hard work they put into making this experience worry-free and great for everyone. Admittedly, I was a bit teary-eyed when we said our good-byes and you know that's when you met great people who made an incredible impact on your life.
HVALA to the H+I team! We look forward to the next one!
This review isn't for people who have been on H+I trips before, I don't need to sell you on H+I--Slovenia is a fantastic country and Blaz and Matej are the perfect guides. For those who have never been on an H+I trip, this is my second H+I trip--and I started planning this one after the first. I began planning the 3rd on the last day of this one! The trip through Slovenia was beyond what I could have ever imagined. The itinerary doesn't do it justice. The experience of getting local guides to show you to best views of one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen was unforgettable. The trails we went on continued to build my confidence as a rider as well as the personalized coaching I received from Blaz and Matej. And as difficult (read fun) as the riding was at times, the meals/wine/beer at the end of the day was the perfect remedy. I would have never been able to plan a trip like this by myself and so I am more than happy to continue using H+I as my primary vacation experience. You get beyond what you pay for--I have only ever felt like I was on a true vacation when going mountain biking with H+I both times. Wore a watch the whole time, still didn't know what day it was--you will be able to disconnect completely and just relax/enjoy the moments.
The H+I did superb job in organizing this event. Everything worked perfectly for me. The bike, the accommodations, the food, the drinks and mostly important the mountain rides themselves. The chosen trails were fantastic, with a good workout during the ascending portion and and lot of fun and technical skills during the descending. All of these trails were unique not just only on the specs of the terrain, but also the memories, history, and views we captured from each of it. Although the great pictures we took give an idea what we experience, the best thing I have are the memories that I wont forget: the mountains, the roads, the trails, the tiredness in the end of the hill, the fresh air when we try to catch up the breath, the history along the ways, the views, the three borders, the villages , the farms, the cheese, the cows, the rocks , the roots, the threes, the birds singing, the lakes, the Adriatic Sea, the accommodations, the rooms, the food, the beer, the wine, the gelato the group, the guides, the people WONDERFULL .
Talking about the guides, they are the " guys" super, super, super awesome with always a great mood !! Blaz and Matej are very nice people and I am glad that I have the chance to meet them. They were a very friendly company during the entire trip helping us out with everything we need, even with something outside of our tour. Any issues we have, for instance the laundry timeline in one of the hotels, they were able to address without no concerns. They share a lot of their country's history and stories that made the tour even more interesting. They have a very good knowledge of all the places we stay and we Mountain Bike which makes them a very good guides. So, I can not forget to mention the mostly important with is fantastic support on the bikes mechanics and the the ride techniques they show and taught us during the entire mountain bike tour. I learned a lot👍👍💯💯. I am very appreciated of their support and friendship and I am looking for to have another opportunity to bike with them.
Said all of that, my first experience with H+I service exceed my expectations and I am very happy with all the H+I team did to make this happen. Thank you very much!!
This was my first trip with H+I so I didn't know what to expect. Would the cost be justified? What would be the rental bikes/guides be like? What would the food and people of Slovenia be like? How is the riding there?
All of my doubts were immediately laid to rest once the trip began. H+I is an incredible organization that put together an unforgettable private trip for me and five friends.
The scenery on this tour is incredible. From the craggy Julian Alps to the dense forest, from the unreal aqua colored rivers to the shores of the Adriatic, the scenery was amazing.
The food (and culture) in Slovenia is a mixture of Germanic, Slavic, and Italian and was, along with the wine tasting, a highlight of the trip (we also included a meal at Hiŝa Franko - Michelin Two Star - highly recommended).
Perhaps my favorite thing about Slovenia was the people. They are some of the warmest, friendliest, most open people I have met in my travels.
The riding on this tour is physically moderately tough - think two hours of climbing on (mostly) dirt roads each day. Most of the riding is climb first and then descend back to the van. The descents were a mix of single and double track and range widely from smooth leaf-covered paths to steep, rocky, and rooty and everything in between.
Our guides, Blaž & Matej, were knowledgeable, funny, and very capable. Blaž is a walking (and riding) historian and often pointed out interesting historical and cultural sights that enriched the experience. Matej is a crack bike mechanic and a pleasure to be around. They have great senses of humor and it was a joy to spend the week with them.
When I leave reviews, I like to point out areas that were weaknesses or that need improvement. However, I struggle to find a single flaw in our tour. This was a true five star experience and I unreservedly recommend it.
This trip was 18 months in the making due to Covid. Thanks to Catherine and her amazing customer service, we made it to Slovenia!
From the moment you meet your guides, Blaz & Matej, you know the week is going to be magical. Their attention to detail, fun personalities and enthusiasm makes this trip 5 stars.
We decided not to travel with our bikes. Renting through H + I was seamless and the bikes great quality.
We live, love & play in the mountains. The Julian Alps are beautiful, the riding trails challenging & diverse. This trip is perfect for intermediate riders as rated. If you enjoy climbing resulting in unbelievable views & single track descents....you will L O V E this trip.
Each day is a fun filled adventure. The guides coaching helps with whatever the day brings and you continue to become a better rider. The pace is perfect with stops for re-grouping and fueling.
Accommodations & food exceeded all expectations. We never stay in such luxury nor eat 4 course meals while traveling. This was such a treat.
Thank you H+I for making memories of a lifetime. Words can't do this trip justice. You need to experience it to understand. If you are considering this trip, book it NOW!
There are few guarantees in life. But, I guarantee you will... love Slovenia, experience an inspirational journey and meet amazing people.
Breath-taking countryside, demanding uphill and even more down, great hotels, restaurants and company, with knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic guides, combined for a superb experience.
Just returned from a 2021 edition of Slovenia and happy to report Blaz + Matej are not missing a beat after the long COVID break. Still sharing the layered history of the region while riding your legs off as detailed in the many previous reviews.
Spectacular weather for the whole week allowed our group to tackle Monte Maggiore on day-6 as planned (I gather wet conditions can sometimes dictate a change). The highlight of the trip for me + I’d say a top-5 H+I descent (8-ish miles of ever-changing/challenging downhill).
Paradise is found mountain biking in Slovenia. Stunning vistas, fantastic riding, delicious food (try the krafi!), amazing culture and most importantly great company. Blaz and Miha were absolutely incredible and took us on an inspiring journey which has left its mark! These guys have some mad skills and are gifted instructors.
I could well be a 'twofer' like Harold...
Arohanui,
Sarah
Hard to beat last year's trip to Slovenia - they did. H+I has delivered once again - the trails, the food, the guides - the lifelong friends I made, the country....Thanks to Blaz and Miha, over the top service and attention to detail. I love Bovec - was even looking for a small plot of land.....will I do a third trip to Slovenia? Perhaps!
I truly cannot find the words to express how much I enjoyed the H+I Slovenia MTB Tour. Wow. Absolutely incredible. I was confident the trip would be a blast when we reserved our spot based on the itinerary, but I did not expect to become a better rider, and more importantly, a better person.
This was our first guided MTB tour so we were a tad skeptical of joining a group of strangers for a full week. Turns out, it was one of the best travel choices we have ever made. We had the best group and made life-long friends! Every day was jam-packed from morning to night and there was never a dull moment.
Needless to say, there were a lot of tears at the end of the week. 🙁
Our guides, Blaz and Matej, were AMAZING! I am grateful for the opportunity to meet both of them and to call them my friends. They took the time to genuinely get to know each person in the group and their individual riding ability. We received personalized coaching throughout the tour and everyone left with improved riding skills. Blaz and Matej attended to every detail without having to ask; they were consistently ahead of our needs and made the tour flow effortlessly. Blaz and Matej, thank you again for an unforgettable week. You two will forever hold a special place in my heart!
The region of Slovenia we traveled through was just beautiful. The Julian Alps will take your breath away. Every day was filled with challenging climbs, mind-blowing views, and thrilling descents. The tour is rated accurately as Intermediate+. It pushed me physically and mentally every day and that's exactly what I wanted.
The small towns and villages we visited were also incredible (one of the best parts of traveling on a bike). All of the accommodations were comfortable, clean, and in great locations. The food was delicious. I enjoyed all of the exquisite dinners, but especially loved the cold beers after every ride. Take me back!
A special thank you to Catherine for helping us with all of our pre-trip arrangements! She was responsive and attentive to all of our needs throughout the entire process. It couldn't have gone smoother.
Finally, THANK YOU to H+I for an over-the-top experience. We will be back again!
Na Zdravje!
H+I provided an experience of a lifetime. I had such a great time. I enjoyed the adventure and physical challenge of having an active holiday.
Slovenia is truly magical. Surrounded by rocky mountains, turquoise rivers, and green countryside, the landscapes are breathtaking. Slovenians truly love and respect nature. They are very active in outdoor sports and maintain a very clean environment. I was impressed and inspired.
Our guides, Blaz and Matej made this trip one to remember. Blaz is an amazing person and just makes you a better being by knowing him. Thank you, Blaz. You made everyone feel comfortable and your ability to inspire and empower is a special quality. Matej’s kindness, patience, and mechanical skills were unbelievable. They both care about people and were over-the-top accommodating. They ensured everyone was well cared for and were having a good time. They loved teaching the group about their passion for mountain biking and the history and culture of their country.
Our group was so fun. We laughed the entire time. We had the best time bonding over tough sections of the rides, enjoying beverages and amazing meals, and swimming in the lake, pool, and sea. I love that I have new friends.
This was top notch and I am grateful to have experienced it.
We really enjoyed everything about our holiday. Thanks to the guides and your organization we were really able to make the most of our time. In addition to riding some epic trails with unbelievable views, you guys helped us fit in horseback riding, a visit to the UNESCO heritage site caves as well as a surprise bonus of indoor cross country skiing in Planica.
It was obvious that the guides worked very hard to make sure that each day had something for everyone. They managed the different energy and abilities within our family so well that everyone finished each day feeling great.
The guides were able to find jumps for the boys to catch some air, played along with our family's crazy word games on the uphills and helped us knock off all of our 'must try' Slovenian dishes in the evenings. Slovenia is even more beautiful than we imagined and we will definitely be recommending it to others.
We can't wait for our next H+I adventure....Ecuador? Norway? Croatia?
I joined this trip that was not far from Norway to verify whether the H+I trips were as good as they look on the web before signing up to one of the trips far away. I'm happy to say that, yes, the trip met all my expectations and superseeded them. Now I will start to look for trips in the Americas primarily, and most likely my next trip will be to Chile or Ecuador.
Besides riding the best trails in Slovenia it was a great way to learn about a country you never have been to before. Our two guides Blaz and Matej knew their history and spent a lot of the time when we were of the seat to tell us about local history, Slovenian customs, food and drinks and so forth. In addition to this, they also tought us a trick or two about riding during the week. The Slovenian hospitality was great and the same was the beer and food.
Last but not least, I enjoyed being with group, none of us except two knew each other from before, and we all came from different countries. However, we all shared quite a few interests: Biking, bikes, food, drinks and having a good time. Hence, if anyone are reluctant to join on their own - don't be - you'll meet new great friends on a trip like this and that is a bonus to the rest.
Finally, I would like to say this also was a good week of training. We did approx 6000 meters of climbing in 7 days, so I recommend to do a bit of training before the trip as per H+I's recommendation.
This was my 3. trip with H+I but not the last... Slovenia is a great destination, especially with this two great guides! Everything is perfect organized and we enjoyed a fantastic week with epic trails.
Curious and without expectations I joined this H+I trip. For me it was the first time joining a 7 days MTB event. Surprisingly this tour was not only to ride the bike, but to explore the beauty of Slovenia in a way I would never have expected. From breathtaking views, historical backgrounds, fast flowing up to beautiful technical trails, fantastic restaurants and diversified accommodations our guides Blaz and Matej led us through their country with dedication.
Thank you guys for this unforgetable experience! You were "poquettes"!
I'm already looking for the next H+I experience, considering to plan a 1 day break for recuperation, or exercise more in advance!
Eli
So not sure about going on an H+I trip to Slovenia ..... do it , just do it. I have just come back from an amazing week of beautiful picturesque decents and amazing countryside and views. H+I have done their research and can show you some awesome trails.
The guides Blaž and Matej were so passionate and knowledgeable about their country as well as perfect hosts , all I had to do was ride and enjoy. The accommodation is great and varied , and the food , well I’m glad I burnt a few calories on the climbs !! .
I am definitely going to try another H+I adventure next year.
Can’t wait
Thanks to all at H+I
Si
For those on the trip - you understand. For those thinking about it, stop thinking, start planning. I am a changed person after this trip. as I sit at my desk back at work, I think only of the journey - the food, the guides, the crew, the trails, the country.
Thanks guys, I WILL be back. cheers.
It was really amazing the Slovenia trip with H+I Adventures
The guides, hotels, restaurants, trails and all the confidence that Catherine is able to transmit. Thank you again.
We are back from our Slovenian trip with H+I and it was a fantastic personal and MTB experience. Slovenia is a very nice country, landscapes are wild and beautiful, the food is very good, people are so friendly.
We had two great guides, Ziva and Blaz, who explained us all the history of the region and shared with us their passion for Slovenia.
It is our 2nd time with H+I and the organization was perfect, as always.
Our 2018 June tour was amazing. The trails, the little towns, food, wine and the intimate knowledge of history in the region was totally five stars. Blaz and Ziva were the perfect guides to meet their favourite local people and routes to ride. Thanks!
My recent trip to Slovenia was nothing short of spectacular. This was my first mountain biking trip like this and H+I set the bar high.
The guides, Blaz and Ziva, were wonderful hosts and full of fun and insightful and knowledge about riding and Slovenian culture; it's clear they have a passion for what they do.
Slovenia is a stunning country with so many stories to tell. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip in September 2017.
Beautiful country, nice people, great food, beer and wine. Marko and Miha our guides were truly awesome!!!! Great communicators, coaches, guides and people. And they both were pretty funny too.
The riding was fabulous, Highly recommended!
We just returned from our ride in Slovenia. This was my third trip with H+I and the trips just keep getting better. All the trips were amazing but Slovenia is special. The history, the scenery, the big climbs with great mixed descents all made this a great week of riding.
The group was fabulous. Our guides Danijel and Mitja went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly. They were just great to be around. The accommodations and the meals in the evening were the best! A trip of a lifetime.
I hope to continue with as many H+I trips as I can. Thanks to Catherine, Euan & all at H+I for providing this great experience.
Wow. Slovenia was an absolutely amazing trip! The scenery is gorgeous, excellent accommodations, delicious restaurants. All the logistical details are perfectly planned out, you don't have to worry about anything- just show up and ride!
Danijel and Mitja were seriously wonderful guides! I get a big smile on my face every time I think about my week in Slovenia.
Huge thanks to H+I, I'll be back for more!
Just fantastic, start to finish.
Our guides- Danijel and Mitja- were among the best biking guides I have encountered. I was concerned about booking this trip as I thought it would be a bit beyond my skill level but they were terrific with some coaching and encouragement.
The accommodations, food and of course the countryside were all just over the top.
Slowenia is a beautiful country. Danijel was a hero on his single speed fat bike and Mitja has a great hand with the camera and both of them gave their best that we were happy and had a great experience.
Once again this was a well H+I organised trip. Looking forward to my next experience with H+I.
Amazing country, Amazing guides (Danijel, Mitja), Amazing experience, Amazing fellow riders!! The best holiday experience of mine so far.
A big thank you to the H+I team for making it all possible.
Highly recommend the Slovenia bike tour, perfectly balanced and logistics were so well thought through. So many great memories, I can't wait till my next trip with H+I!
This was not a holiday. This was a life experience and I regret not doing it sooner, when I first emailed a couple of years ago. Initially I was reluctant to spend this amount on a holiday but now I am already thinking about where to go on my second H+I adventures holiday.
I hadn't appreciated how well looked after we would be and how amazing Slovenia is.
The accommodation was high quality, the breakfasts were healthy and varied, our guides (Danijel and Marko) went out of their way to make the trip better than I could have hoped for (I won't spoil it for others by mentioning too much here).
Most of us were travelling alone but, by the end of the week, we felt like family - we are already planning to meet up.
The riding was more difficult for some us (those who should have trained more :-)) either because the climbs require a decent level of fitness or, in my case, because the descents were pretty challenging.
I almost don't want others to know how brilliant an H+I adventures holiday is so I don't have to compete for places next time! My main piece of advice would be to take a few extra days off afterwards because you will definitely have post-holiday blues....and Slovenia has a lot to offer.
Thank you H+I Adventures xx
My trip to Slovenia was outstanding in every way. Danijel and Marko were exceptional in every aspect and took good care of everyone in the group. They really went the extra mile to make sure everyone had the greatest time possible. They are excellent guides!
The accommodation was first-rate and so was the organisation of the logistics of the trip.
And Slovenia, what can I say? It is possibly the most beautiful place I have even been to. Every drop of sweat on the long climbs was worth it just for the views at the top of the mountains, the lakes and the clear emerald-green waters of the rivers. The descents were also really good, the terrain varied and challenging in different ways. Bonus that the Sun decided to shine all the way throughout the whole trip.
I had such a great time that I am not sure how another trip would ever be able to top this one!...
But we are already planning a comeback to another H+I MTB adventure. Thank you for the effort in preparing this awesome holiday for us!
I cannot rave more about this tour on all levels. Too hard to describe in words. The amazing landscape, secret trails, beautiful varied accommodation, the incredible informative talented patient guides, riding with other like-minded people that I know now will be friends for life, I give it 6 stars.
I am not a group person but this trip was beyond my expectations, worth every penny.
Thanks guys from H+I Adventures and definitely planning my next trip with you already!
We just returned from our mountain biking trip to Slovenia. It was a fantastic vacation! We enjoyed spectacular scenery, delicious food and nice accommodations. Our guides Danijel and Marco were fantastic. The way they led us through the rides, explained the history of the country and the trails we were riding, and their overall ability to look after everyone on the trip and make sure we were all having a great time was exceptional. We also loved the group we were riding with. Slovenia is a truly beautiful place. When we consider the beautiful riding, fantastic guiding and great group of people we rode with we think this was our best mountain biking trip yet. Thank you H+I for an unforgettable trip.
I had an amazing experience on the Slovenian alps to Adriatic ride - our guides Daniel and Marco were fabulous and incredibly patient of a slow rider like myself 🙂 Every part of the tour has been thoroughly considered to give a wonderful experience, be it through the riding, the impressive scenery and the food and accommodation. I would highly recommend H+I to anyone looking for a riding adventure!
A lot of work has clearly gone into planning this trip. I won't repeat everything in the reviews below but I agree with all the comments. Dani and Marco did a first rate job of looking after a varied group and are both lovely guys. The riding and stop over locations were all fantastic and the extra attention to details like stopping for a swim, local eateries and apres-bike craft beers really added to the trip... We had a really good mix of people in the group and within a day or so of meeting up we were all having a laugh. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to do some high quality riding but experience some culture at the same time, but be prepared for some sturdy climbs!
What an outstanding trip! Everyone with H +I was there to make your time on this adventure enjoyable. From the challenge of the morning climbs, to the afternoon challenging descents, every aspect was first class, and safety was always discussed. The hotels and towns where we stayed were exceptional. I want to personally thank everyone at H+I , and a big thanks to Danijel and Marco, taking the time to plan out every detail and always asking the group how they could make our adventure even more enjoyable. To start the week with 10 random riders, bond and have a blast was a complete bonus. I am definitely taking another trip!
Just completed an H+I adventure in Slovenia with the lead guide being Dani. Even though it was a very rainy week, we managed to dance around most of the rain and cover 118 miles over hill and dale. Places we stayed were super, food local and views stunning! This is our second H+I Adventure, we are already thinking of Spain next year. It is amazing that we have seen so few other folks on our rides! Also thanks to Cat for her organization and Euan for scoping out the places/guides. The best in the world, no doubt. Lastly, our group of 10 bonded so well, we hope to visit each other to ride.
Just loved Slovenia - thanks to the H+I team! What a fun weekend spent riding varied trails, eating lovely food with great company! I think Karen & Nikki have summed it up with their reviews... Can't recommend this tour higher. Thank you for another perfect holiday!!
Thank you H+I team for a superb ladies weekend in Slovenia, I loved the whole trip! It gave me a real taste of Slovenia and the fantastic trails they have. It was so much more than just a biking trip, with great opportunities to learn about the beautiful country, meet the people and sample the amazing food and wine. I just want to go back and do it all again!
There is so much to shout about on this fabulous trip! We enjoyed panoramic mountain views, crossed rope bridges, passed through small remote villages and tackled lots of challenging and rewarding single track, topped off with great local food, wine and hospitality. Our wonderful local guides took great care of us and we had the best time. Hope to visit again soon!
This was my second trip with H&I and I was once again blown away with the experience. A lot of thought and hard work has gone into this tour. A stunningly beautiful country. If you book this trip you wont be disappointed. Our group was the best, my sides were aching as much as my legs from laughing so hard. Thank you once again to the H&I team. I'll definitely be back.
This is our second H&I Adventure so expectations were high. And they were certainly met! The guides were excellent, expertly managing a large group of riders with diverse skill levels. Their love of their country was reflected in their joy in sharing local knowledge/history, local trails and food for a unique Slovenian and mountain biking experience. The views were spectacular...well worth the ascents!
Ascents with breathtaking views. Fun single track descents through stunning forests. Guides were always upbeat, supportive and accommodating. Delicious meals, local beer and wine. Wonderful group of fellow cyclists with whom I feel lucky to have spent such a fantastic week.
Stunning views, tough climbs, and fast singletrack descents made for a challenging but rewarding and enjoyable trip. Slovenia is a beautiful country, and the food (and wine) is fantastic. Felt very lucky to spend the week with such a great group of people.
The tour was great! The guides were great, and they provided good knowledge of the local culture, history, and trails!
From lunch at a World War 1 bunker to ripping down long forgotten supply roads that have evolved into the trails of your dreams, forget the fine dinning, grad your fat tire rig and follow Danny down what ever he has found!
My expectations were exceeded in almost every respect. The guides were brilliant and Danny had obviously researched the trails thoroughly, the organisation first class and the range of riding and the chance to experience a new environment were out of this world. The group got along really well and having some training sessions with Alex was simply the icing on the cake.
What a great trip. Well organised from booking right through to coming home. All the information you need, flexibility around flights / arrivals, great selection of hotels (particularly for those of us who like a little comfort after a day's riding as opposed to mountain huts!) & restaurants all in stunning settings. Great guiding (including historical & cultural aspects) and variety of well thought out trails providing you with experiences of an array of what a beautiful country Slovenia is. The groups work well and differences in levels of thrill seeking accommodated! Having experienced an "off" I can also vouch for the care & support for injuries & in particular the encouragement afterwards to get your confidence back. Definitely sets the standards for MTB holidays. Thanks so much for a great holiday and thoroughly recommend to all.
Really well organised trip with friendly, informative guides. Slovenia itself is beautiful and really exceeded my expectations. The trails were just superb, fairly varied as well - got to experience a bit of everything (rocks, roots, steep and not so steep). Thank you for another amazing holiday!
This country and our guides, the whole trip, way exceeded my expectations. The scenery is breathtaking, the guides fun, and brilliant in their knowledge and skills. The hotels were very good and the food and wine were wonderful.
We made new friends - both the guides and our fellow riders. The "+" on the Intermediate+ rating definitely meant I was stretched, but the experience, the views, made it epic.
I hope we'll be back. I could not recommend this adventure more. What a great great trip!
A beautiful country, amazing scenery and a great group of people. The riding was challenging for me but I enjoyed every day, and learned a lot. Both the fellow riders and the guides were supportive and fun. The hotels were very comfortable, some even luxurious, and the food - some of the best I've ever had! Thank you for an amazing adventure.
What a fantastic trip! Some of the best single track I have ever experienced, friendly people, great accommodation, good food and very nice wines.
I didn't really know what to expect on this trip but was blown away by the place! A very well organised tour with meticulous attention to detail. The riding was tough and rewarding, single track, rock gardens, demanding climbs all with spectacular views. Accommodation was very very good and the service second to none. Local food and wine was top notch!
A superb itinerary, and the guides were professional and good fun with excellent local knowledge. Everyone needs to try this trip!
