Sandy’s passion for the mountains started with hillwalking at 14 years old and has led him to exploring all corners of the Scottish Highlands. After years of roaming on two feet, a desire to reach more remote and wild terrain led him to discovered the joys of mountain biking.
Riding quickly became his focus and led him to racing in the Scottish Enduro Series and progressing his riding skills.
“Mountain biking unlocked new areas to explore for me, and my riding quickly became more than just transport. It opened up a new way to roam the hills and pushed me deeper into the landscapes I’ve always felt at home in. Having served in the armed forces, I have developed a real appreciation for challenge, teamwork and leadership, qualities that naturally drew me towards working with people in the mountains.”
These days, Sandy’s riding is driven by exploration, long days in big mountain terrain, linking remote trails and exploring the remoter parts of Scotland. Bike-packing has taken him across Slovenia’s alpine mountains, with Croatia (and beyond) next on the horizon.
When Sandy’s not riding, you’ll likely find him with his camera in hand, snowboarding, taking a dip in a remote loch, or savouring a good malt whisky.
