Setting the standard in international mountain bike travel

Here at H+I Adventures we have an unwavering focus on crafting and delivering life-affirming mountain bike and e-mountain bike adventures in the world’s most inspiring places.

Our passion for mountain biking and travelling in itself does not set us apart from others in our industry. What does make us different, however, is the fact that every one of our adventures is hand-crafted personally by one of our founders, in partnership with our expert local guides in each destination.

Every aspect of your adventure has been carefully considered, tested and refined by us, to the meet exacting standards our riders have come to expect from H+I Adventures, ensuring that you have an unforgettable experience, wherever you choose to travel. But, that doesn’t mean that all tours are identical – far from it.

Thanks to the intimate local knowledge of our in-country guide teams, your adventure will be an immersion into the unique culture, communities and landscapes in each region, which will benefit both you and the local people living in these remarkable places.

In addition, we’re also collaborating with our family of guides across the globe to elevate the profession of mountain bike guiding through our Guide Exchange Programme. This is our professional development programme, created by our expert mountain bike guides around the world sharing their vast experience to set the benchmark for international mountain bike tour guiding.

We are setting the standard in international mountain bike travel and now leading the charge in e-mountain bike travel.

setting the standard - meticulously crafting each tour

Carefully crafted adventures

Journeys designed to be a physical and sensory adventure…

At H+I Adventures we specialise in small group MTB and E-MTB adventures. That’s all we do. Our tours are carefully crafted by us to be a combination of physical challenges and cultural adventures.

Everything has been considered, researched and tested by us. The route, the trails, the accommodation, the food, the flow of the day, the flow of the week; all thought through to make sure each day is unforgettable.

You’ll stay in small, family-run or boutique hotels, and eat in the best local restaurants and cafés, carefully sourced by our expert local teams in each location, so that you experience the real soul of the region.

We run small group tours, with a maximum of 12 riders per group, so that our local guides can effectively care for, and manage the health, safety and enjoyment of, every rider in the group, ensuring that you have an experience you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Setting the standard in medical and evacuation services

Your safety comes first

The health and safety of our riders is our highest priority…

Global Rescue has recognised H+I Adventures as a Safe Travel Partner for their commitment to participants’ health, safety and security during all trips”

From the world’s leading medical and security evacuation organisation this is recognition we are proud of.

Our partnership with Global Rescue means that, included in your tour price, you have access to the highest level of medical support available, whilst on tour with us.

Should you feel unwell or have an injury whilst on tour with us we can call on the expertise of Global Rescue to offer advice on anything from an upset stomach, to initiating helicopter evacuation to the nearest hospital.

No other mountain bike tour operator offers this service but we believe inherently in investing in this; going above-and-beyond so you have absolute peace-of-mind in knowing you are covered for every eventuality.

setting the standard - professional local guides

Professional local guides

The most experienced and highly-qualified, professional local guides

We demand the highest, nationally-recognised qualifications from our guides, but this is always just an entry point. In every destination we have a small group of trusted guides who can continue to maximise their guiding experience each season to ensure they are keeping their guiding skills as sharp as possible.

We place great importance on professional development for our guides, and this is enabled by our Guide Exchange Programme. By facilitating the sharing of our guides’ expertise, we’re creating an international knowledge hub of mountain bike guiding excellence. This is an invaluable resource and support network for our global guide teams, helping them to deliver exceptional adventure experiences. The Guide Exchange Programme also supports our guides in experiencing each other’s fantastic destinations and bringing guides from each location to our HQ so that we can all develop our professional practice.

With our combined efforts we are now making mountain bike guiding a viable career option and raising the bar for guide standards.

Setting the standard - trail custodians

Trail custodians

In every place we ride we take trail sustainability seriously…

Without great trails we can’t have great riding so we always ensure that we are working to create and maintain our trail networks. Everywhere we ride with you we make sure that our team is instrumental in creating, fixing and looking after the wellbeing of our trails.

This may take the form of an annual trail maintenance day, seasonal upkeep of our favourite spots, trail repairs from support guides as we move through a trip, or guides building then sharing their local singletrack in all our destinations.

In 2020 we formalised our commitment to trail care in our home base in the Scottish Highlands with the appointment of a Lead Guide + Guide Trainer, part of whose role includes taking responsibility for maintaining the trails we use throughout the season in Scotland. Chris’ job is to assess trail damage, make a plan for repairs in collaboration with relevant land managers, and carry out the necessary work. Not many companies can boast this level of trail care.

In bringing riders to our favourite trails around the world, we must also be responsible for the upkeep of these trails to ensure they remain in good shape for everyone to enjoy for years to come.

setting the standard - sustainable travel

Sustainable travel

We love to travel…

As a company we promote adventure travel and, whilst we recognise that any form of travel has an energy impact we believe that by travelling responsibly, we are having a positive impact in all of our destinations.

We work with small operators and local suppliers in every area we visit, many of whom are in very remote communities with limited prospects for employment. The vast majority of income (around $70 of every $100 spent by you) remains in these places, where it matters most, and supports small scale tourism.

Creating local support and involvement around our trips helps promote environmental protection as communities recognise it is exactly this that generates their income.

We firmly believe that travel is a force for good in the world, however we are aware that our carbon footprint is substantial and that we have a responsibility to do all we can to reduce this. That’s why we will be working with the wider adventure tourism industry to develop a strategic plan for reducing our environmental impact and support the industry to effect positive and transformative change.
