GRADUATE APP & SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

We are looking for a graduate with knowledge and experience in all aspects of modern software development, particularly the principles and practices related to iOS App Development, to join our small team based in Inverness. The ideal candidate will also have a broad understanding of other supporting technologies and tools used in the development stack including database management, user interface (UI) design, version control and software testing.

A BIT ABOUT US

H+I Adventures is the leading provider of guided mountain bike adventures. From our base in the Scottish Highlands we craft and deliver life-affirming MTB and E-MTB tours all over the world. We’re a small, but highly productive and innovative team, which is demonstrated by our recent purchase of an app and software platform that brings together the whole mountain biking community.

Our aim is to develop one single app that will do everything that the mountain biking community, land managers, and destination managers want it to do.

We will also develop functionality to enhance the experience of customers coming on tours with us.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working in close partnership with our senior Android and database developers, you will help to develop the iOS version of the app, as well as user interfaces in the software platform.

You will use your knowledge and skills in app development to help deliver the objectives for the app and software platform, ensuring consistently high quality of work at all times.

Full-time

Initially one year, but with the potential to be permanent thereafter.

Based at our HQ near Inverness, but with the possibility to work from home one day a week after the initial training period.

You must have graduated in the last 4 years, i.e. no earlier than 2020.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take a proactive and hands-on approach to all tasks 
  • Develop the in-app user interface for all user groups using best practices and guidelines for this type of development
  • Work with colleagues to implement clean design that respects the platform and is on-brand
  • Work with colleagues to scope out and develop functionality and user interface for H+I Adventures customers 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with the app, working with the team to find optimal solutions
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Solid experience (minimum 2 years) in iOS development
  • Experience with mobile development, including building responsive designs for various screen sizes and adhering to design systems
  • Strong understanding of different testing phases for iOS applications, including unit testing, end-to-end testing, and performance optimisation.
  • Knowledge of RxJava/reactive programming techniques.
  • Ability to find solutions to complex problems
  • Proficiency in integrating third-party APIs and working with networking concepts such as RESTful services and JSON/XML.
  • You can contribute to discussions on technical architecture and design.
  • You want to learn new technologies and are comfortable discussing them with your peers.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary: £25,000 per annum
  • 30 days holiday per annum (including public holidays)

  • Primarily office-based in our HQ near Inverness
